Rebelution

So...I'm back. I wish I could say I'm back in black, but seeing as I'm not wearing any black right now, that would be dishonest. Anyways...

Today I went to a conference called Rebelution. It was hosted by the guys who wrote the book Do Hard Things, and WOW. This conference was amazing. I haven't finished the book yet so I'll hold off on that review, but I will tell you about the conference (already doing that. moving on...). So these two twin brothers, Alex and Brett Harris. They're both 19 years old, and they have an incredible story. Go get their book. Their main message is that teenagers today are basically wasting our lives. Except it doesn't sound that horrible when they say it...and they can actually back it up...but anyway, they talk about how the expectations of teenagers are incredibly low in our society, and how we're supposed to (as God's children) do much more than is expected of us today.

They told stories of teenagers doing incredible things, just because they were obedient to God and were willing to do hard things without fear of failure. My favorite of the stories was about a boy named David Glasgow, who at age 9 started working on a ship. He learned everything he could about working on the ship, and when he was 12 he saw his first battle (during the war of 1812). After a successful battle, David was asked to sail the ship-full of British prisoners, including their captain-all the way back to America. And he did it. He was 12. And he grew up to become the American Navy's first Admiral. But it was all because he wasn't afraid of people having high expectations of him. Amazing conference anyway...
